The Town of McCordsville announced last week that they will be holding a “Name the Park” contest for their newest park facility. Located on the same grounds as the McCordsville Town Hall, this new park needs a name!
The park currently features a walking path and picnic gazebo. Saplings have been planted, and with a little imagination, one can see a shady courtyard in the park’s future. The mulch walking path is about a half mile, and includes pet stations along the way to insure the pristine path stays that way. Future plans for the park include a play structure.
Name suggestions are being taken on the town’s Facebook page, and the city manager is accepting suggestions via email as well. Suggestions are being taken through May 23, 2014. People will then be invited to vote via email survey to determine the park’s name.
On May 30, the new park will be hosting its first outdoor movie. This screening of Frozen will be shown on a big screen, and is slated to begin around 9pm. Pack your lawn chairs and a picnic, and visit your friends under the stars. I think there’s a high probability of this event turning into a sing-a-long. Plans include having a few vendors on site before and during the event; check the town’s Facebook page to see who will be there closer to the event date.
The McCordsville Town Hall and the soon-to-be-named park are located on 800W and is easily accessible from Pendleton Pike. Neighborhoods are closeby, and with the town offices right there, including the police department, it’s an especially safe atmosphere.
